BREAKING GROUND AND BREAKING RECORDS: DUBAI'S NEXT MEGA MALL
Tuesday, April 11, 2017 — The Emirate of Dubai shows no signs of stopping its creative and unique approach when it comes to building up and expanding out. As part of a larger mega development put forth by the Meydan Group, the Meydan One Mall broke ground earlier this month with H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai laying the foundation.
Serving as the focal point for the rest of the Meydan One Master Development of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City, which is on its way to shatter numerous world records, the Meydan One Mall boasts an impressive 11,200 sqm hypermarket, 620 retail shops, flagship department and luxury stores, and an advanced retractable roof. Allowing for natural sunlight to come in as well as offering a natural breeze in the winter months, Dubai’s newest mall aims to give a one of a kind alfresco dining and shopping experience.
Topping out at an impressive US$ 450 Million, according to the BNC Project Intelligence Database, the Meydan One Mall will spread out over 30,000sqm providing multi-purpose space accommodating indoor and outdoor needs of its guests. In addition to the list of record-breaking amenities, the mall will feature the largest dancing water fountain in the world, measuring 400m in width and 100m in height. The mesmerising development plan will be a 25,000 sqm multi-purpose sports facility located within the mall.
Offerings inside the sports facility include various outdoor attractions like tennis courts, basketball courts, driving range, and a record-breaking ski and snowboard slope measuring out at 1km. Aiming to be completed and open by its first phase in 2020, it will become Dubai’s premier attraction for tourists and residents alike.
The Meydan One Mall is just one example of the many developments which have taken root to enhance Dubai's grandeur further. As the newest mega development, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City will be a shining wonder in and of itself. The mixed-use community will dedicate 185 acres to green and sustainable living with 282 contemporary, L-shaped villas, mid and high rise apartments that focus on space and a modern feel. Spanning over nine kilometres, MBR City community will have the world's largest man-made crystal lagoon.
Building up along with the much-anticipated Expo 2020 site, the Blue Water Island and The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour, the Meydan One Mall, is just one of the mega developments which are turning Dubai into one of the most profitable markets for global construction players. Not surprisingly, the last edition of the largest construction show in the Middle East, The Big 5, welcomed record-breaking numbers of participants from 142 countries. With 2,586 companies exhibiting, The Big 5 2016 saw more key buyers than ever before, and an increase of +6.8% in participants.
Bringing together the best and most influential decision makers within the construction industry from around the world, the 2017 edition of The Big 5 is expected to be an unmissable platform for all construction buyers, manufacturers and experts to have a stake in Dubai’s ever expanding lucrative construction market. Organised by dmg events Middle East, Asia & Africa, The Big 5 2017 will run from November 26 to 29 at the World Trade Center in Dubai. To know more, visit www.thebig5.ae
