EXHIBITOR INTERVIEW: AMCS TECHNOLOGIES
In talks with Abdelrahman Saafin, Area sales manager EMEA of A&Z Technologies
AMCS Technologies will be exhibiting its latest products at The Big 5 Heavy in Dubai this November. We spoke to Abdelrahman Saafin, Area sales manager EMEA of A&Z Technologies; here's what he told us as he prepares to participate at the largest event dedicated to the infrastructure and heavy construction community in the Middle East.
What products will you be showcasing at the event this November?
Visitors will have the opportunity to discover several world previews. Among the novelties expected in 2019, we will find:
The DCS 61-S, (Driving Control System Safety), the new anti-collision and zoning system. It is a complete safety system designed with a higher level of requirement to ensure the safe execution of orders to manage the machines in interference to ensure a slowing down then a complete immobilization of the crane at a pre-set distance from the obstacle.
This new device will offer new features, in addition to the three essential functions (anti-collision, zoning and display / data logger), to discover on their stand.
Currently in the prototype stage, the company will reveal the SUP BIM, its construction site supervisor in BIM. This tool allows to follow in real time the evolution of the construction site in 3 dimensions from anywhere but also to gather, to record and to visualize on a single screen the movements and the information of all the cranes equipped with the systems DCS 61- S or DCS 60 (slewing, travelling, lifting, load, events related to anti-collision, wind speed). The SUP BIM, allows to visualize the evolution of the construction site and its infrastructures as it progresses in its real environment. It also integrates digital models of buildings under construction in BIM format. BIM makes it possible to control the different risks of safety related to the environment of the construction site thanks to the digital models of the buildings.
With this new model of supervisor the customers will improve the productivity of their cranes thanks to statistics and visualize their projects throughout their construction cycle facilitating decision-making.
What value do these products bring to the region’s construction industry?
These products illustrate the company's ability to keep up with market developments, whether it is new standards, new generations of cranes, innovations and technological advances in the industry.
On the AMCS technologies booth, the focus this year is on new technologies and therefore the safety and performance of the company's new products and tools.
Can you share your outlook on the local construction industry:
Are there challenges you are currently facing?
In the Middle East, our main challenge is job site with many cranes with different brands, different heights, different contractors.
For example, in the Dubai Creek Harbour project, we manage the biggest number of anti collision systems (the DCS 60) in one location including 9 different contractors and more than 33 high rise buildings with more than 10000 employees working on the sites. The job started in action in 2015 and planned to be handed over in 2020.
AMCS technologies systems are installed on most crane manufacturers on this site like Liebherr, Potain, Terex, Wolffkran, Raimondi, XCMG, Zoomlion, QTZ etc.
Another challenge is, on some job site to manage the anti collision of specific cranes.
What are the latest solutions to overcome these?
We are listening to the market and our customers. Thanks to our engineering center we develop custom-made options or functions to adapt to different job site configurations or machines.
For power nuclear plant, Hinkley Point C, in United Kingdom, we developed an option in order to manage the two jibs and ropes simultaneously or separately of the Favelle Favco M2480D in order to ensure the interference with the cranes around it.
In the Middle East, we did one project last month including crawler crane (1200 tons) that was a special requirement from customer. We installed our DCS 60 on the crawler and every tower cranes. It was also equipped with an alarm and a flashing light to warn the crane operator and the job site when it entered an interference zone with a tower crane.
