EXHIBITOR INTERVIEW: CONCRETE INDUSTRIES COMPLEX
In talks with Mr. Bashar Abou Mayaleh, Managing Director
Concrete Industries Complex will be exhibiting its latest products at the Middle East Concrete show in Dubai this November. We spoke to Bashar Abou Mayaleh, the Managing Director; here's what he told us as he prepares to participate to the the leading event dedicated to the concrete industry in the Middle East.
What are the major opportunities you spot in the UAE Precast industry?
With the numerous opportunities of growth currently available within the UAE Construction Sector, we expect the market share of Precast to increase in the coming years. Furthermore, as the clock ticks toward the Expo 2020 timeline, we expect more mega projects and developments being announced in view of the same & Precast will continue to provide a helping hand towards this ever-evolving UAE landscape as an ideal method of choice for construction.
What are the major growth drivers for the Precast industry in the UAE or Dubai?
From the announcement until the ongoing works for Expo 2020, its impact towards the UAE construction industry growth has exponentially increased in general. With such diversity in all aspects of its construction, the same is bound to be more than just a landmark but a representation of how Dubai is willing and capable in reaching greater lengths to become world’s number one hub. Another important growth driver for us is the government’s direct involvement & spending towards the hospitality & infrastructure development in view of the upcoming requirements with this said sectors. Lastly, with the current increasing requirement of affordable housing / low-cost housing for the mid-range investors we foresee a great demand of Precast solutions for such applications.
According to you, what are today’s top 3 trends in the Precast industry?
- Positioning of precast as a sustainable construction methodology.
- The use of Precast cladding application in various tower/s is widely becoming a mandate due to its primary advantage of being fire resistant.
- The use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) within the construction industry allows us to produce viable/feasible structural solutions ensuring design efficiency at each & every stage of the project.
What is the biggest challenge for you in the market this year and why?
Although strategic planning and coordination is done prior to commencement of each & every project, inevitably, we still sometimes deal with delays. Regardless of what could have been the cause, it still greatly affects the various project parameters. Also, the ever-increasing cost related to the raw materials especially with the implementation of new tariffs etc. effects our competitive advantage on a large scale.
Are there any innovative Products/Solutions your company has developed? Please provide details
Until recently, building a High-Rise Structure using a Full Precast Structural System was a dream only few could have imagined. However, with the completion of the Tallest Full Precast Tower (within UAE) by HPBS a few years ago we have not only turned that dream into reality but also broken a lot of prototypes associated with the precast industry alongside introducing an innovative construction methodology within the region.
Why are they innovative?
With the usage of non-standard sections of precast column shuttering with CIS Core and Band beams we were able to achieve a standalone structural system that was not only able to pass the stringent regulatory requirements but also offered a much shorter floor completion cycle which in turn helped the project stakeholders in gaining at multiple fronts.
What products will you present at the Middle East Concrete Show this year?
We are aiming to highlight & promote HPBS as a total precast solution provider for all the upcoming projects in & around UAE. We can provide a full range of services including design, re-design, value engineering, manufacturing, logistics and installation covering all type of precast building applications that include precast structures for high rise buildings, low rise buildings, parking buildings, industrial sheds, villas, complexes, schools, architectural exposed natural marble chip cladding for towers and buildings, hollow core slabs for different applications, pre-stressed beams for special applications etc.
