In talks with Mr. Samir Koblawi, General Manager

Hitech Concrete Products LLC will be exhibiting its latest products at the Middle East Concrete show in Dubai this ​ November. We spoke to Samir Koblawi, the General Manager; here's what he told us as he prepares to participate to the the leading event dedicated to the concrete industry in the Middle East.

What are the major opportunities you spot in the GCC concrete industry?

There is continuous growth in the construction industry, it is true that it varies from year to year, but it is upward growth nonetheless. Most common projects include commercial buildings, infrastructures, residential buildings community structures and utilities such as airports, schools, parks etc., and all of these structure or projects mainly depend on concrete components and products and for sure precast concrete products compromise a major part in the concrete solutions.

According to you, what are today’s top 3 trends in the concrete industry?

The industry trends have been more or less the same since the past few decades. Although for me of course, precast I feel is the future of the concrete industry, at least in the Middle East.
So in regards to precast specifically, the biggest trend in our field is the integration on intelligent equipment. Adding sensors to plant equipment diversified with software can not only run a precast factory with greater quality but with such efficiency you can again and again out price the competition and be at the top of the game.
Moreover, there are some developments in the materials and parts used in precast. They help increase production and installation time, which in turn, help reduce overall cost.

What is the biggest challenge for you in the market this year and why? 

The biggest challenge for the precast industry this year and in the coming year 2019 are –
- To maintain the reputation and share market of precast solution as the major best choice to the clients and main contractors among the other construction system such as traditional cast in situ, steel structures or others.
- The other challenge is the liquidity and maintaining positive cash flow with the ongoing market situation by getting the due payments on time.
- To maintain the positive environment of competition by the present precast companies in accordance with the various demand and supply curve.

Are there any innovative Products/Solutions your company has developed? Please provide details.

There is an innovative solution we are currently in the process of R&D of such. We aim to by using technology that pinpoints product quality issues, producers enable long-term product and process improvements. Some of these tools will make real-time production and delivery data available to customers. This is innovative because it will speed communication and add more levels of trust that we are delivering what we promise, and when we promised it.
The details of our studies will be shared upon the successful completion of such to benefit the precast industry and we are happy take part in maintaining UAE's competitive status worldwide.

What products will you present at the Middle East Concrete Show this year?

We will be showcasing our different products mainly consisting of -  Hollow core, precast, GRC, blocks and kerbstones.
