EXHIBITOR INTERVIEW: THERMACOTE

In talks with Pierre Elin, General Manager

ThermaCote will be exhibiting its latest products at The Big 5 in Dubai this November. We spoke to the company's General Manager, Pierre Elin; here's what he told us as he prepares to participate at The Big 5, the global hub for the construction industry.

What products will you be showcasing at the event?

ThermaCote®: a high-performance thermal barrier which incorporates ceramic technology to prevent the transfer of heat or cold and minimize solar and radiant heat gain.

What added value do this product bring to the Construction Tools and Building Materials sector?

Its ease of application for new or retrofit construction allows for the performance enhancement of wall systems, roof systems, floor insulation, HVAC duct work, for all types of substrates including metal, brick, cement block, concrete, wood, or sheet rock.
ThermaCote® is a superior spray-applied reflective thermal barrier which in its simplest definition can be described as an ‘energy saving paint’. It is an anti-carbonation coating for concrete and as such it provides the ultimate protection against the ingress of carbon dioxide, oxygen and water, while allowing damp substrates to breathe without blistering.
The product is approved by the European Cool Roof Council and increases the insulation and solar reflection of roofs. Whether for industrial buildings, agricultural, logistics or commercial centers, ThermaCote reduces your energy bill, while improving the comfort of your occupants. You decrease the heat of buildings in summer and keep it in winter.

Can you share your outlook on the Gulf Construction industry?

Governments across the Middle East are taking active steps to diversify their economies, saves energy and the region prepares for major events such as the Expo 2020 Dubai. It's important for us to provide our energy saving and protective coating for any kind of buildings.

What is unique about the Gulf Construction industry compared to other regions where you operate?

The demand for electricity and water continues to grow at a fast pace due to a rise in population, an expanding economy and climatic considerations.

Is there something you are looking forward to in the pipeline?

In addition to insulate on facade, roof, industrial or oil & gas with ThermaCote, we launch a new potential application for floors and asphalt.
Dark pavements get hot in the sun because they can absorb 80-95% of sunlight. Asphalt black tops can become upwards of 70 degrees Celsius on even a moderately sunny day. The act of coating a surface with ThermaCote® helps that surface resist absorption of heat caused by changes in temperature or exposure to direct sunlight.
ThermaCote® can be the solution for reducing the surface temperature while combating the common issue of the of the urban heat island effect in residential areas.

How will it benefit customers to see you at the event?

ThermaCote® is a paint-like single component spray-applied water-based acrylic material that incorporates ceramic technology. Its ease of application for new or retrofit construction allows for the performance enhancement of insulation of floors, HVAC duct work, wall systems, and roof systems for all types of substrates including metal, brick, cement block, concrete, wood, or sheet rock.
ThermaCote® is MAS Certified Green and UL® classified as a class A fire retardant with a 0 zero) flame spread. ThermaCote® saves energy by boosting the performance level of insulation in commercial and residential buildings. When used as the primary thermal envelope (PTE), ThermaCote® seals the structure and minimizes solar/radiant heat gain.
ThermaCote® guards insulation against moisture, thermal transfer, thermal bridging, and conduction; it also allows entrapped moisture to escape. All of this provides an environment close to replicating the lab conditions where insulation is assigned its “R” value.
ThermaCote® is sustainable as it lowers the energy consumption of a structure, prolongs the life of the building materials and adds no harmful VOCs to the indoor or outdoor environment during installation, service or dismantling and recycling.

Why did you decide to participate in The Big 5?

As leading suppliers of insulating coating since 1985, we choose to exhibit at The Big 5 to expand our presence in Middle East and North Africa. It’s also an opportunity for us to present and launch new kind of uses of our coating for floors and asphalt.

About The Big 5

25 - 28 November 2019, Dubai World Trade Centre

The Big 5 is the region’s largest and most influential event for the construction industry.

Since 1979, the event has launched hundreds of thousands of products boosting the expansion of the Middle East and African markets. It has facilitated partnerships, advanced knowledge and industry best practices, while serving as the gateway for international companies to access the region.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the event is set to support construction companies through a shifting economic landscape, boost business, launch the latest building solutions, educate industry professionals, and foster best practices championing technological innovation.

For the first time, The Big 5 covers the full construction cycle. Not only does it showcase products across six dedicated product sectors: MEP services, Building Interiors & Finishes, Building Envelope & Special Construction, Construction Tools & Building Materials, Construction Technology & Innovation, and the all new Offsite & Modular Construction.

It also runs alongside six specialised events enabling industry professionals to source products from around the globe for every stage of the construction projects: The Big 5 Heavy, Middle East Concrete, HVAC R Expo, Middle East Stone, The Big 5 Solar, and the Urban Design & Landscape Expo.

Beyond bringing to Dubai over 20,000 innovative building solutions to over 68,000 expected visitors, the seven co-located events provide more than 220 complimentary high-level summits, practical seminars, and CPD-certified workshops to foster collaboration, support best practices, and provide effective solutions to today’s industry challenges.

In order to promote technological innovation in the construction sector, the event also features The Big 5’s Start-Up City, the Live Innovation Zone, and the FutureTech Construction Summit, among others.

The Big 5 is organised by dmg events and is free to attend for all pre-registered visitors. Free online registration closes on 24 November 2019; 200 AED entrance fee will be charged to non-registered visitors.
