60 seconds with Thomas Mendler, Director ISPO France

ISPO France will be exhibiting its latest products at The Big 5 in Dubai next November. We spoke to the Director, Thomas Mendler; here's what he told us as he prepares to participate to the the largest construction event in the Middle East.

What are the major opportunities you spot in the GCC/UAE construction industry?

The major opportunities we have seen and the one we are spotting, are the continuous need and will to develop all kinds of infrastructures especially buildings in the region. With the World Expo 2020 in Dubai, the improvement in the economy and the constant will in the UAE and broader GCC region  to have new buildings, homes, shopping malls and so on, the opportunities are huge and numerous.

What are the major growth drivers for the construction industry in the UAE or Dubai?

One of the major growth driver is the World Expo 2020 that will take place in Dubai. This project is opening many opportunities not only in terms of sales but also in terms of brand reputation. However, I believe the number one growth driver is the political will in Dubai and in the UAE that always seeks to expand, promote, and improve the country. With this political push everything is simplified and you can always find new possibilities to achieve and expand your sales in the region.

According to you, what are today’s top 3 trends in the construction industry?

As of today the top 3 trends in the construction industry are
1) The environmental issue. Being more green
2) The efficiency in the construction process. Being fast while being safe
3) Being Unique. Developing a unique project that will surely promote the city, the region and/or the country where the project will be realized (e.g Expo 2020 Dubai)

How do you think the construction industry will evolve in the next years?

In the coming years, the construction industry will continue to grow further pushed by the enduring need for buildings and infrastructures. The main evolution we can see is the aim to reach more and more sustainable buildings that respect the environment.

Are there any innovative Products/Solutions your company has developed? Please provide details.

Our products are innovative because they are more sustainable and efficient. These new products combine the best features of the PU sealant production with the new trend of sustainability. They are unique in the market and set the way for the PU Sealant industry matching the future evolution of the construction industry.
