FUTURE FACADE DESIGNS TO ADHERE TO FIRE SAFETY AND LIFE PROTECTION CODE

Dubai, United Arab Emirates; September 26, 2017: The second edition of the Windows Doors & Facades Event gathered in its second day global manufacturers and distributors to address the risks and security concerns related to combustible facades. This came as a part of a series of visionary keynotes, educational seminars and relevant workshops hosted by the event, presenting the best global practice and providing the tools and knowledge required for fire safety and security.

The event hosted a number of workshops covering the new UAE fire and life safety code of practice which received a lot of interest from both attending guests and exhibitors. The sessions delved into the details of the UAE FLS Code update and offered a closer examination of the flammability of exterior walls and cladding. Leading professionals from different relevant sectors offered key insights on their strategies for compliance with the latest updates of the code, particularly when it comes to the Façade-related aspects.

Andy Dean, Head of Facades at WSP said, “The UAE fire and life safety code is a great step forward and like any code it’s a live document that will need to develop further, especially with all the upcoming technologies and innovations. Currently we are in the trial phase and it’s a work in progress, as soon as we get through the next few months we’ll be able define the interpretations and understand the implications better. The civil defence authority is very clear that the code is effective immediately, although they are aware of the potential challenges which they are ready to discuss to improve and develop the code further.”

Earlier this year, the UAE updated the Fire Safety and Life Protection Code by incorporating international standards and best practices. The new code also targets the exterior cladding that has been blamed for the spread of many fires and aims to reduce its flammability.

The Windows Doors & Façade event brings together in one place global and regional developers, investors, consultants, architects, contractors and distributors. Representatives from key industry stakeholder groups including Gutmann, Diamond Sponsor, Alumil, Platinum Sponsor, Reynaers, Executive Associate Partner and Founding Partners Schüco, Elumatec, Cladtech International, Orgadata, leverage the exhibition to engage in active and productive dialogue on key challenges facing the industry’s projects, working to bring businesses closer and fulfil their potential.

Organised by dmg events Middle East, Asia & Africa, The Windows, Doors & Facades event is co-located with The Outdoor Design & Build Show, FM EXPO, and Gulf Glass. The event is hosted at halls 6, 7 and 8 of the World Trade Centre and is open until 5pm on Wednesday, 27 September.
