- Live Exhibitor reviews endorse a fast expanding glass sector in the GCC region, with an increased focus on energy saving techniques in the production of glass.
- Gulf Glass (next held from 25 – 27 Sept 2019 in Dubai) brings together key decision makers, manufacturers, suppliers and distributors from in and around the world, hosting the largest meet for the glass industry and an opportunity for face-to-face trading.
News of high value deals worth AED 2.59 million made at Gulf Glass which took place from 25 to 27 September 2017 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, and an overwhelming response from exhibitors, has defined a fast growing sector in the GCC region, with an increased focus on energy saving in the production of glass. Exhibitors at the event credited the enhanced quality of visitors received and the opportunity to arrange face-to-face meeting over three days, leading to numerable trading opportunities.
Launching new and varied technologies from a handful of suppliers at the HIET stand, General Manager Marcel Dagher announced three contracts signed for glass handling and cutting machinery, estimating a total sale value of AED 1.2million made at the event.
HIET came to Gulf Glass with the aim of connecting German suppliers to the Arab world, within a conducive environment allowing for discussion on the problems faced by local clients, and possible solutions that could to be brought from Germany.
“It has been a couple of years where the glass business has been a little bit slow,” says Marcel, who goes on to aspire that “nowadays it’s going big.” Listing the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait as countries where the glass industry is growing fast due to increased building development, he informs that people will be very interested to supply glass technologies which save energy during production of the material.
Looking in more detail at the trend of creating new products with less energy, Erickson Daiz from Technical Supplies and Services Co. LLC (TSSC) explains that while the material is becoming more popular, to build any type of glass requires large amounts of energy because of the heat that is involved in processing.
Positioning this as a generator of opportunity for innovation in the sector, Erickson describes “glass as a product that has been here for millions of years,” adding that “it is constantly evolving with new technology.”
TSSC presented a new range of PEL Bottle Crushers at the exhibition, taking a unique look at resourcing a number of applications with the fully recyclable material, such as the construction of roads, and facades of high-rise buildings.
Having launched their entire collection of glass tempering furnace products leading up to the event, Gulf Glass provided a platform for Mountain Intelligent Equipment Co., LTD to sign contracts of intent with multiple clients. Vice General Manager Li Changzhong reports that “many customers have promised they will go with China after seeing us at this exhibition.” He adds, “Probably we will sign more contracts by the help of Gulf Glass.”
The event, known to gather regional and international companies in one place, greatly helped the consumers to be closer to international suppliers in Dubai. International Sales Director of Tec-Pro Group, Ahmed Amouri, captures these consumers as being “the real direct decision makers like the CEO, or at least part of higher management.”
When declaring an AED 1.3million deal made for cutting machines and a spacer factory, Ahmed endorses the opportunity of conducting live product demonstrations given to the Gold Sponsor by event organizer dmg events Middle East, Asia & Africa.
Ahmed encourages exhibitors at future editions to show their machines in the same way. He adds “We were so busy, receiving a lot of interested people trying to understand, a lot of visitors that came to see the machine.”
Held at the Dubai World Trade Centre every two years, the next edition of Gulf Glass will run from 25-27 Sept 2019. “The exhibition this year played host to 140+ exhibitors from 27 exhibiting countries” reports Event Director Muhammed Kazi. He remarks that “the 10% increase in visitors at this year’s edition of Gulf Glass is reassurance of the fast advancing sector in the GCC.”
Remembering a much smaller first edition of the event back in 2008, CEO of Glass Source Farhad Ghafourian is “happy to see improvement of quality and quantity of visitors and exhibitors” Having participated consistently since the first edition, Glass Source was this year nominated as Glass Technology Solution Sponsor to Gulf Glass.
Gulf Glass is the largest flat & container glass event in the GCC, organised by dmg events Middle East, Asia & Africa.
