LANDSCAPING, INFRASTRUCTURE & URBAN DEVELOPMENT SOLUTIONS ON DISPLAY AS OUTDOOR AND GREEN PROJECTS SPREAD ACROSS THE UAE

Wednesday, September 20, 2017 — With the hot summer months coming to an end, the best time of the year for outdoor activities in the UAE is just around the corner. Public and private green spaces are rapidly growing in the country, with more and more people preferring to spend time outdoors, facilitated by a new wave of urban design projects that promote walkability. Upcoming hospitality and leisure projects, along with Expo 2020 Dubai, are expected to further drive the demand for outdoor design and build solutions.         

The best and latest for outdoor spaces and urban landscaping will be on display at The Big 5 Outdoor Design & Build Show 2017, from 25 to 27 September at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Arcadia Landscaping, Orient Irrigation, Asbeton, Mertoglu, Park Kent, Jonite, SIS Pitches, Mase Grass and Transgulf are just some of the leading local and international companies participating at the only specialised trade event for the landscaping, infrastructure & urban development industry in the region.

A selection of concrete products for public spaces will be presented by the Barcelona-based Escofet 1886. “We will be launching a new range of moulded products in Ultra High Performance concrete (UHPC),” says Architect Enric Pericas Bosch, Escofet’s Urban Elements Manager. A perfect solution for the Middle East climate, moulded urban furniture with UHPC does not accumulate heat and remains at a mild temperature, even under the harshest conditions of solar radiation.

Another European exhibitor, the Italian AS&T, will introduce the brand new Bio-Box products at The Big 5 Outdoor Design & Build Show. Specially designed for outdoor use, Bio-Box is a modular system conceived to cover the garbage cans and reorganize waste areas, with scented wood diffusers and eco-friendly finishes. “Many residential areas in Milan already decided to get away from messy and unpleasant waste areas, in favor of an elegant and functional installation,” comments architect Alessandro Sassi.

From Germany, a young company specialized in the thermal treatment of native German wood, an eco-friendly alternative to tropical wood, Timura Wood Manufacturer will present a wide range of certified and thermally-processed wood for terraces, façades and fencing. “A terrace can become an extension of the living room: a place to relax, to spend some pleasant time with friends and family, or a play area for children,” says the company’s CEO, Tom Sieverts.

Local companies will be also showcasing the latest products and solutions for urban landscaping and outdoor spaces. Already involved in the development of 186 Government Villas Car Park Shades in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, new school sports floors and playground equipment at GEMS, as well as EXPO 2020 preparation projects, Mister Shade ME will be back at The Big 5 Outdoor Design & Build Show this year.

Visitors will be able to source the latest shades structures as well as pet products, including shelters, at Mister Shade ME’s stand. The Big 5 Outdoor Design & Build Show, supported by Tentara UAE as Tent & Shading Partner, will also host a Sports Feature, presented by Raymond Sport.

Alongside the exhibition, 11 complimentary CPD (Continuing Professional Development) certified workshops covering urban design, smart landscape, waste management, irrigation and more, will be delivered by industry experts. Mornè Fourie, Boris Fabinski, Rakesh Pardasani, Christopher Smeaton and John Sullivan are just some of the thought-leaders who will discuss the present and future of urban landscaping and architecture in the Middle East.
