MATT DENTON ON #Big5turns40
The President of dmg events celebrates the 40th anniversary of The Big 5
"I recently shared an opinion piece on LinkedIn suggesting that the ongoing wave of digital transformation will never replace the face-to-face interaction our events offer. This is never more apparent than in our celebration of four decades of The Big 5.
Over the years we have been very fortunate with the growth of The Big 5; from a small show that started off in a striped marquee on the Dubai Creek to being one of the world’s largest building and construction events showcasing the regional construction industry.
"This 40 year milestone is a great testament to how our teams have effectively worked towards keeping the show fresh and relevant for our stakeholders and attendees. Innovation and adaptability have always been at the core of our strategy as we transform each edition to keep up with the changing business environment and industry needs.
The show has continuously seen new features, country pavilions and product sectors added and with the increase in the number of exhibitors each year both local and global, The Big 5 has truly become a gateway to the region’s top buyers and distributors.
"Reflecting on The Big 5 in the last 40 years makes me proud of my team. At dmg events we don’t sit our laurels or hang around waiting for opportunities to happen, we run with the change and take actions to grow our events year on year.
"I would like to end by saying I look forward to the continued development of our longest-running show and the expansion of The Big 5 brand into emerging territories. See you at the 40th edition."
