What is the difference between Project Managers and Program Managers?

Project Managers manage a single effort with a focus on scope, program and resources to create a unique product, service or result. Program Managers manage a collection of interrelated and often interdependent projects delivered as a single package.

What are the steps required to become a successful Project Manager?

Certainly a construction related higher education degree to begin with. Prior experience working with a contractor provides invaluable insight into the complexities of construction and is recommended.

What are the steps required to become a successful Program Manager?

The starting point would be a construction related higher education degree. It would be preferable for a Program Manager to initially spend a few years as a Project Manager on a handful of projects to obtain experience in project delivery, from design to tender to construction. This would provide this individual with the appropriate tools and experience to become a successful Program Manager.

What can industry professionals expect to learn at your session at The Big 5?

A bit more insight into the often misunderstood realm of Program Management, along with some guidance for construction professionals who are interested in moving to a program management role.
