SPEAKER INTERVIEW: DR. OMAR ABDELAZIZ
In talks with Dr. Omar Abdelaziz, ASHRAE Global Training Center Instructor
Dr. Omar Abdelaziz will be speaking at HVAC R Expo this November. Omar is the Instructor at Global Training Centre ASHRAE and he is going to share his expertise at the HVAC R Talks on "New Developments in Lower GWP Refrigerants (MENA)"
What is your take on the new and upcoming HVAC R Expo?
HVAC R Expo brings a much-needed exposure of the GCC HVAC R industry to the state-of-the-art, provides an opportunity to learn about the newest commercial HVAC product offering for the GCC market with special emphasis on hot climate conditions, as well as provides an opportunity for free-learning opportunities.
Describe some challenges in the GCC HVAC R market and the opportunities they present.
Some of the challenges in the GCC HVAC R market are the high ambient conditions, high humidity, and different equipment use profile. Opportunities come from large market potential, especially within growing markets. Finally, the GCC market has been part of the Kigali amendment exception which allows for a better transition towards lower global warming potential refrigerants.
According to you which are the top HVAC projects to look out for in the GCC?
I am very interested to see NEOM since they have plans for strong renewable energy integration and the use of advanced HVAC products.
Name one thing about HVAC R that people always get wrong.
People think that hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerants can't be used in the GCC market and that they won't be able to match the current efficiency of the hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) refrigerants. Experience has proven this wrong!
