THE BIG 5 HEAVY CELEBRATES EXCELLENCE IN UAE BIM PRACTICES

Dubai, November 27: Alongside The Big 5 Heavy part of The Big 5, the RTA Innovation in BIM Summit has been kicked off in partnership with the British Standards Institution (BSI). Free-to-attend, and CPD (continuing professional development) certified, the summit brought together industry decision makers to promote the adoption of BIM technologies in the UAE.
Andy Butterfield, Director of Built Environment, BSI Standards, Anthony Burd, Head of Built Environment, BSI Standards, Wajdi Mereb, BIM Manager, RTA, Abdulredha Abu Al Hassan, Executive Director, Rail Planning and Projects Development Department, Rail Agency, RTA were amongst the speakers.
In his opening remarks, Sam Patel, Portfolio Director for dmg events said: “As part of The Big 5 Heavy, this summit aims to assess the future trends of BIM technologies in the UAE, and to pave the way for Dubai to become the smartest city in the world by using state-of-the-art techniques from the ground up.”
To celebrate achievements towards high-standard BIM implementation in the region, the British Standards Institution (BSI) presented certification to key clients at the summit. Organizations certified at the summit included Atkins, Parsons, Mott MacDonald and Khatib & Alami.
Pietro Foschi, Group Assurance Director, BSI Standards commented on the prestige of this certification: “BIM technology is a hot topic in the construction industry to ensure efficiency across the entire supply chain. In this case it is important to for organizations to not only implement BIM technology, but to make sure that there is an external assessment to help implement it in the right way.
“The BSI standards are consolidated best practice on what good looks like. The certification shows the world that these companies have adopted BIM best practice to the height of their capacity, and as a result they guarantee the trust of their suppliers, clients, and their colleague around the world.”
Organised by dmg events, The Big 5 Heavy part of The Big 5, will run until 29 November 2018, 11AM to 7PM daily in Za’abeel Hall 1 at The Dubai World Trade Centre.
