THOUGHT LEADERS SERIES: ALAN MCLENAGHAN
The CEO of SageGlass, Alan McLenaghan, is one of the much-anticipated speakers at the Future of Facades Summit presented by Gulf Glass and the Windows, Doors & Facades Event 2019
Gulf Glass, the largest event dedicated to the glass industry in the Middle East, hosts Alan McLenaghan as a key speaker this year. The CEO of SageGlass will be delivering a presentation titled "Towards a new era in sustainable construction with dynamic glass" at the Future of Facades Summit, on September 24.
Here's what he told us ahead of the event:
In your opinion, what are the major trends in the glass industry today?
A major trend in the glass and glazing industry is having larger pieces of glass. While with smaller pieces of glass, there’s a push to reduce the framing, which means that structural glazing solution becomes crucial.
At SageGlass, we witness a dramatic growth in the dynamic glass field. People are getting excited about the opportunity to select not only one type of glass, but also to have four or five different performances in one glass. These can range from very heavily tinted, to very clear, allowing a lot of light and energy to enter the space.
Dynamic glass is a big trend, which will grow more and more in the future.
The beauty of dynamism is that you can adapt the glass to the conditions around you. Dynamic glass brings: great clarity at night-time, cutting-out the midday sun gleam if you are trying to use a screen in your office while still having a view and a connection with the outside. I think these trends are very exciting for the glass and glazing industry.
